Joakim Rainer Trio
“Light.Sentence”
The Joakim Rainier Trio were named Young Jazz Musicians of the Year when they won Jazzintro at Moldejazz 2022. “The band has challenging compositions with harmonic and rhythmic complexity that make it exciting to listen to. You have to involve yourself as a listener and when you do you get a very diverse tonal experience. The musicians play together and have a clear dialogue with each other. The music is solid and energetic, and they convince us with excess and playfulness. They invite us into their whimsical universe,” stated the jury – arguments that few would or could counter after listening to their output on this album, Light.Sentence.
Joakim Rainer Petersen (piano)
Alexander Riris (double bass)
Rino Sivathas (drums)
Tog’s music is loaded to bursting point with diverse musical elements running from the near- ethereal to the combustible. Their bristling riffs are punctuated by moments of soundscaping, expressionistic passages that serve as launchpads for crunching jazzpunkrock explorations, or as sly feints before they release another careering juggernaut of frenzied high-octane invention. They shift moods with ease, attack and release unexpectedly, switch sonic lanes in a heartbeat, and frequently leap from a near-standstill to terminal velocity in a heartbeat. Expression and intensity are what matter, and when this is coupled with their quality musicianship, almost anything can and does occur.

Tortuga Alada
“Cuadernos de viaje no 2”
La Tortuga Alada (The winged turtle) is an imaginary animal whose particular anatomy draws us to an ambiguous being that scurries restlessly and, at the same time, achieves weightlessness. In these two antipodes is the musical project created in 2017 by the Colombian saxophonist and clarinetist María Valencia and the Argentine cellist Violeta García, who exceed the rigorousness of jazz and contemporary chamber music, placing their explorations at the limit of improvised music and instant composition. In that place of free forms, risky soundscapes and real-time dialogues, was born Cuadernos de Viaje Nº 1, a recording made in Bogotá, Colombia, on January 26, 2018, and released by Discos Chichigua.
Violeta Garcia: Cello
Maria “Mange” Valencia: bass clarinet and alto sax
The quintet colour out Dahl’s strong, melodic compositions with playfulness and convincing weight. What we hear is harmonic yet avant-garde, with references to both old school free jazz and modern contemporary reed-leaded bands. In september 2021 Dafnie participated in Young Crocus Jazz Contest, in Jelenia Góra (Poland), and won the 1st price among bands from all of Europe.

Ingebrigt Håker Flaten & Rolf-Erik Nystrøm
“El Sistema”
Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and Rolf-Erik Nystrøm can be described as institutions of contemporary jazz and improv. Both have been around for decades, giving us musical innovation and extreme sports-like art experiences. Their new release El Sistema was recorded almost 20 years ago, and yet it is topical and relevant even today.
